As coaches, we all recognize when a boxer surprises us during an assessment compared to what we see in their daily workouts. We call this the Superman Affect. Usually highly competitive men. Surprise.
The FAB 8, TUG & S2S take about 30 seconds each. That's 5 minutes. Anybody can be Superman for 5 minutes! But they could never keep it up all day... that would be exhausting! But for 5 minutes?
To be evaluated over time and over many more boxers and assessments, it may turn out that for a specific boxer, if their personality drives them to be their best Superman for every assessment, as long as they are comparing Superman assessment against Superman assessment, then any improvements or declines would be in context for them. However, Superman Boxers would distort large sample reports and analysis and therefore they might need to be filtered out.
Among the situations listed in "An Imperfect Scenario", The Superman Affect is one more reason we have to be careful what conclusions analysis of PARS data might show.
